VPN for Mac: 2 versions on the same account

Ben's VPN has 2 Mac versions: a DMG file from this page and the Mac App Store app. Both work with the same account and differ in where you pay.

macOS 12 Monterey and newer · version 1.21.0 · DMG, 73.1 MB

Other systems: all downloads · Yandex Cloud mirror

The version depends on where you pay

  • DMG from this page

The button at the top of this page downloads the DMG file. Use the mirror link under the buttons when the main link is slow. This version needs macOS 12 Monterey and newer. Its Buy Ben's VPN window shows the plans and prices of our website. You pay on the site by card or in cryptocurrency.

  • Mac App Store

This version installs with your Apple ID. It shares one App Store listing with the iPhone and iPad app (see VPN for iPhone and iPad). The subscription is an App Store purchase. Restore purchases restores a subscription that you bought on another device.

Installing the DMG version in 3 steps

  1. Drag the app to Applications

Open the DMG file and drag the app into the Applications folder. Launch the app from that folder.

  2. Click Connect

The app starts in a guest account for this Mac. Until you have a subscription, Connect opens Buy Ben's VPN. To use an existing subscription, choose Already have a subscription? → Sign in to account in that window.

  3. Allow the macOS requests

The first connection needs your permission in macOS. Click Allow in the request to add VPN configurations. The app may also show “Allow the VPN system extension”. In that case, click Open Settings, allow the extension and click Connect again.

Plans with no device limit

The prices below apply to the DMG version. The Mac App Store version sells subscriptions through Apple.

Bonus months come with purchases on this site. Refunds follow our refund policy. Send the request within 14 days of payment.

Mac: permissions, an iPhone subscription, support and split tunneling

Support 24/7: the chat on this site, Telegram @bensvpn and [email protected].

I clicked “Don’t Allow” when macOS asked about VPN configurations. How do I undo that?

Open System Settings → VPN and remove the configuration that the app added. On Monterey, the path is System Preferences → Network. Click Connect again, and macOS asks for permission once more.

I already pay for it on my iPhone. Can the Mac use the same subscription?

Yes. For an App Store purchase, install the Mac App Store version with the same Apple ID. Then click Restore purchases. In the DMG version, sign in with a code instead. On the iPhone, open Account → Sign in on another device. On the Mac, click Connect, then Already have a subscription? → Sign in to account → Sign in with code. Enter the 8-digit code within 3 minutes.

How do I contact support from the Mac?

Support 24/7 answers in the chat inside the app. Click Support under the server card to open the chat.

Can some addresses bypass the VPN on my Mac?

Yes. Click Tunnel and choose Manual. List the IP addresses, subnets or domains that should bypass the VPN, one per line. The change takes effect after a reconnect.
