VPN for YouTube on PC: download for Windows or Mac
Install Ben's VPN on a Windows PC or a Mac and connect. YouTube then loads through the country you choose. This applies to Chrome, Safari and any other browser on the computer.

4 steps from installation to YouTube
-
Download the desktop app
The Windows version comes as an EXE file, the Mac version as a DMG file. The Linux version comes as a DEB file or an AppImage. The app installs its own network adapter and may need administrator rights for it. Allow them when Windows asks.
-
Connect and choose a plan
The app creates a guest account on first launch, with no registration. Click Connect. For an account without a subscription, it opens the Buy Ben's VPN window with our plans. Choose a plan and pay. A subscription from your phone works here as well. Click Sign in to account under Already have a subscription? in the same window. A guest account on the phone needs an e-mail first. Tap Link e-mail under Account on the phone. Then sign in on the computer with that e-mail.
-
Choose a country
Click Location under the server card. Find the country in the list or with Find location, then click it. The app connects to it at once.
-
Open YouTube
Any browser on the computer works. Refresh the tab if YouTube was already open. Only the exclusions you add under Tunnel skip the VPN.
Stats for nerds: 2 lines that show the video speed
Right-click the YouTube player and choose Stats for nerds. Check 2 lines in the panel that opens. Connection Speed shows how fast data arrives. Buffer Health shows how many seconds of video are already loaded. A dropping speed empties the buffer, and the picture freezes. In that case, the route is too slow for the current quality.
Compare a few locations. Under Location, choose another nearby country with a 10 GBIT or 1 GBIT tag. Let the video play for 1 minute, then check the same 2 lines. Previous returns the old location if it was faster. Check the numbers with the VPN off if they barely change between locations. Similar numbers without the VPN mean the limit is your own connection, not the route.
Plans with no device limit
The Buy Ben's VPN window offers these plans on Windows, Linux and the Mac DMG version.

YouTube on a computer: common questions
Support 24/7: the chat on this site, Telegram @bensvpn and [email protected].
I installed YouTube as an app from Chrome or Edge. Does it use the VPN too?
Yes. That app is a browser window without the address bar. It uses the same connection as your other tabs.
Another VPN app is installed on my computer. Will it interfere?
It can, while it is connected. Quit the other VPN app, then click Connect again.
The app stays on “Setting up the app for the first time…” for a long time. What can I do?
Your network may block access to our servers. After a while, the app offers a mirror. Try the automatic mirror search first. Setup continues in the background during the search. After a failed search, ask Support 24/7 for the current mirror. Then enter that mirror manually.
Will it run on my computer?
The Windows version needs Windows 7 SP1 to Windows 11. One installer covers all of these versions. The Mac version needs macOS 12 Monterey and newer. The Linux version needs Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+.
Start for 3 days, then decide
The trial costs $0.50 and opens all 187 countries and every app. After it, the plan renews at $5 a month. You can cancel the renewal from your account at any time.
