VPN for WhatsApp that stays on for incoming calls

WhatsApp rings only while it can reach its own servers. Ben's VPN routes WhatsApp through the country you choose when a network blocks those servers. Leave the VPN connected all day, also while the screen is off.

Setup for WhatsApp calls: 3 steps

  1. Install Ben's VPN on the phone you use for WhatsApp

The App Store has the iPhone version, and Google Play has the Android one. Android phones without Google services install the APK file instead. WhatsApp on a laptop needs Ben's VPN on that computer too. There is a Windows version and a Mac version.

  2. Tap Connect

The button opens Buy Ben's VPN instead of connecting until you pay for a plan. Choose a plan there and complete the payment. From then on, the same button connects and disconnects the VPN.

  3. Start with the Fastest tile

Tap Location, then Fastest in the Change Location window. The app then selects a location near where you are. Voice delay on calls grows with the distance to the server.

2 settings for a VPN that stays on in the background

The system battery saving on some Android phones stops the VPN in the background. Open Account → Settings, find Battery saving and tap Add to exceptions. Do this only if the VPN disconnects in the background.

On Windows, enable Launch the app on system startup in the Autostart section of the same settings. The app then opens at Windows startup, and one click connects the VPN.

If a WhatsApp call does not connect

Do not redial on the same location after a failed call. Tap a location in a neighboring country in the Change Location window. Auto-connect is on by default, so the app reconnects through it at once. Then call again from WhatsApp on the new location.

The Previous tile in the same window returns the location you had before. Find working server does not suit calls, because it checks ordinary connections only.

No device limit for your family’s phones

There is no device limit on a subscription. You can share your account with family and friends. The phones of the people you call most can use your subscription too.

On your phone, open Account → Sign in on another device. The screen shows an 8-digit code that works for 3 minutes. Install the app on the other phone and tap Connect. Then choose Already have a subscription? → Sign in to account → Sign in with code. A guest account belongs to the device it was created on. Tap Link e-mail first if you use the app as a guest.

WhatsApp and the VPN: 4 questions

Support 24/7: the chat on this site, Telegram @bensvpn and [email protected].

WhatsApp messages do not send with the VPN on. What should I do?

Tap Fix the problem on the Bad connection banner if the app shows one. You can then switch to another location or search for a working server. This can take up to 2 minutes. Support 24/7 answers in the app chat if nothing changes. Tap Support on the main screen to open it.

How do I see how many devices use my account?

Open Account → Statistics and find the Devices today line. It shows how many phones and computers used the account today.

Do I get anything for inviting friends?

Yes, a free month of subscription for each friend you refer. The friend you invite also gets a free month. Account → Invite a friend gives you a link to send, for example in a WhatsApp chat.

WhatsApp is already encrypted. Why do I need a VPN for it?

Encryption protects your messages but does not help WhatsApp reach its servers. WhatsApp cannot reach them at all on a network that blocks them. Ben's VPN sends that traffic through another country.
