The owner of a public hotspot can see which sites you visit. Through the VPN, the hotspot sees only traffic to our server. French sites still show you local search results and maps in French.

Some French TV, radio and news apps keep part of their content for viewers in France. A French address makes you one of those viewers. This works when the app checks only your IP address.

Join the Wi-Fi first
Complete the sign-in or terms page of the hotspot first, if it shows one. The app cannot reach our server until the network lets you online.

Choose France
Press Location, expand the list, type “France” in Find location and choose France. You are connected right away when your subscription is active. If it is not, Connect shows the Buy Ben's VPN window. On our countries page, France is labelled Marseille.

Check the tunnel mode
Press Tunnel and check that Off is selected. In other modes, some sites bypass the VPN, and the hotspot sees them.

Press Disconnect, complete the sign-in page and connect again.
Do I need France on a hotspot if French sites do not matter to me?
No. Any location hides the sites you open from the hotspot. For a nearby one, press the Fastest tile.
Will the VPN make slow train Wi-Fi faster?
No. A VPN cannot add bandwidth that the hotspot does not have. Pages that load slowly without the VPN also load slowly with it.
