VPN with a server in Japan for every device at home

One Ben's VPN subscription covers Japan on your phone, computer and TV. A games console can use Japan through a supported router. Japanese sites and apps then see a Japanese IP address.

Phones, computers, TVs and consoles on Japan

  • Phones and computers

The iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux versions all have the same Japan location. Each device saves its own choice after you choose Japan once.

  • TVs

There are apps for Android TV and Apple TV (tvOS 17 and newer). A TV has no e-mail sign-in. It takes an 8-digit code from your phone to use the same subscription.

  • Consoles and other devices without the app

Ben's VPN runs on MikroTik, OpenWrt and Keenetic routers, Netcraze included. Devices on your home network then use the VPN. On a Keenetic, you can choose any location for the whole network or for selected devices. Only the console then needs to be on Japan. Not every router model can run the app. The Keenetic router guide has the list of models.

A TV on Japan with an 8-digit code

  1. Install the TV app

For Android TV, use the Google Play listing or the separate TV APK file. Apple TV has the same App Store page as the iPhone app.

  2. Get a sign-in code from the phone

Open Account → Sign in on another device on a phone with an active subscription. It shows 8 digits that work for 3 minutes.

  3. Sign in on the TV with the code

The TV’s sign-in screen has a code option. Choose it and enter the 8 digits with the remote.

  4. Choose Japan

Open Location on the TV and choose Japan in the list.

Japan: devices, TV codes and Japanese sites

Support 24/7: the chat on this site, Telegram @bensvpn and [email protected].

How many devices can be on Japan at once?

There is no device limit, and each device keeps its own location. The TV can stay on Japan while your phone uses another country.

The TV does not accept my code. Why?

The code expired after 3 minutes, or it came from a guest account. TVs do not accept codes from guest accounts. In the second case, link an e-mail on the phone (Account → Link e-mail) and request a new code.

Will a Japanese IP move my App Store account to Japan?

No. The App Store country depends on your Apple Account and its payment details, not on your IP address.

Do Japanese sites refuse foreign visitors?

Some do. Certain shops, ticket services and fan clubs serve only visitors from Japan. Others show foreign visitors a reduced version of the site. A Japanese address passes a check by IP, but some services also recognise server addresses. It does not help with a check of your phone number or card.
