Install the app
Install it from Google Play or from the APK file on our site. The phone needs Android 10 and newer in both cases. Under its icon, Android shows the short label VPN.

Connect and choose a subscription
A guest account is ready after the first launch. Tap Connect. With no subscription yet, the Buy Ben's VPN window lists Google Play subscriptions. For an existing subscription, sign in instead. Tap Sign in to account under Already have a subscription? above the subscription list. On the first connection, Android asks for permission to add a VPN connection. Allow it.

Choose a location for YouTube
Tap Location. The Fastest tile connects to a location near you. For a specific country, find it in the list. The phone connects as soon as you tap a location. Then open YouTube.
Exclude other apps from the VPN
Tap Tunnel and choose Manual. Under Apps that bypass the VPN, tap Select apps and tick the apps. They connect over your normal network. All other apps, YouTube included, stay on the VPN.
Android 12 and earlier may apply only part of a long address list in Manual. The app then shows how many entries are in effect. Android also has its own Block connections without VPN option. With that option on, the excluded apps have no internet. Ben's VPN warns about this in its Split tunneling window.

Can I pay through Google Play?
Yes. For a Google Play subscription from another phone, tap Restore purchases in the Buy Ben's VPN window. A plan from our website works as well. Sign in to the account that holds it.
Can I use it on a phone without Google services?
Yes. Our APK file installs without Google Play. On such a phone, the Buy Ben's VPN window lists our website plans, not Google Play. Choose a plan and pay. Contact Support 24/7 if something does not work as described. The VPN for Huawei page describes those phones in more detail.
Why does the VPN disconnect when the phone is idle for a while?
Battery saving on some phones stops idle apps, and the VPN connection drops with them. Open Account → Settings and find the Battery saving section. Tap Add to exceptions and confirm in the Android prompt. After that, the app ignores battery optimization.
Is there a version for Android TV?
Yes. Install the same app from Google Play on the TV, or use our TV APK file. The TV signs in with a code from the phone app: Account → Sign in on another device. The TV rejects codes from guest accounts. On a guest account, tap Link e-mail on the phone first. The full TV setup is on the VPN for Android TV page.
