1 location in the USA, no city choice

Ben's VPN has one location in the United States. In the app, it is a single USA row without a choice of city. On our list of all 187 countries, this row reads “USA, Oregon”.

In the Change Location window, each location has a speed tag, such as 10 GBIT, 250 MBIT or 100 MBIT. The tag marks the speed class of the server. Your real speed also depends on your own connection and on the distance to the server. A distant 10 GBIT server can be slower for you than a nearby server with a lower tag.

3 uses for a US IP address

Sites see the IP address of the server you are connected to. For some sites, the country of that address matters.

  • Services that check the country of your IP

Some American sites and apps check where your IP address is from. The result decides what they show and whether they let you in. With the USA location, they see an American address. Each service has its own rules, so we cannot promise that a particular one will work.

  • Games on North American servers

Choose the USA when your friends play on US servers or a game needs its US region. A VPN does not shorten the route. Data goes to the US location, and from there to the game server. Your ping still depends on your distance to the USA. If the region does not matter, try the Fastest tile. Ping and game regions are covered on the VPN for online games page.

  • Prices, ads and search results for US visitors

Marketers and developers use the USA location to check what American visitors see. This includes prices, ads and search results.

4 steps to the US location

  1. Download the app

The page with Ben's VPN apps for phones, computers and TVs has every version. Install the one for your device.

  2. Press “Location”

This tile is under the server card on the main screen. It opens the Change Location window.

  3. Search for “USA”

Open the list of locations and type “USA” into the Find location box. The USA row appears with its flag and speed tag.

  4. Choose the USA row

In this window, Automatically connect when changing location is ticked by default. The app then connects to the USA at once. A VPN already connected to another location switches to the USA. With the box unticked, the USA applies from your next connection. With no active subscription, the USA stays selected and nothing connects. In that case, Connect leads to the Buy Ben's VPN window.

Questions about the American IP address

Support 24/7: the chat on this site, Telegram @bensvpn and [email protected].

Does the US location cost extra?

No. Every location in the app, the USA included, comes with one subscription.

Will my American IP address stay the same?

Not always. For a different American address, open the Account tab and then Settings. Under Server Replacement, press Replace Servers. All locations get new IP addresses at once, the USA too.

Why does a site still see my real country?

The IP address is only one signal. A phone app can request the geolocation of your device. A service can also check the country in your profile or the country of your payment card. The VPN changes only the IP address.

How do I return to my own IP address?

Press Disconnect. Sites then see your real address again. To go from the USA back to your previous location, choose the Previous tile in Change Location.

The US connection is slow or keeps dropping. What can I do?

Press Fix the problem on the Bad connection banner. The Server unavailable card opens. Its step 1 is another location, and step 2 is Find working server. To stay on the USA, choose step 2. The app retests the server and replaces its IP addresses. If that fails, it enables multihop. The search lasts up to 2 minutes. The same button is in Account → Settings.
